# Getting started

A practical starting point for joining the operating portfolio.

Depositing lets you participate in Suno's operating portfolio without financing a particular construction project. You acquire uWatt, then choose whether to hold it or stake it for c-uWatt and receive funded rewards.

Both positions share the Reserve's backing and risks. Staking adds participation in funded rewards.

| Position | What you hold | How rewards work |
| -------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------- |
| uWatt | The Reserve-backed token, with a $1 desk reference when fully backed | An unstaked balance does not accrue staking rewards |
| c-uWatt | A share received by staking uWatt | Each share represents more uWatt as rewards vest |

## The depositor journey

1. **Acquire uWatt.** Use Suno's primary desk—the facility for depositing stablecoins and redeeming uWatt—or buy on an available secondary market.
2. **Stake if you want income.** Exchange uWatt for c-uWatt at the vault's current rate.
3. **Hold your shares.** Rewards increase the uWatt represented by each c-uWatt; there is no separate reward-claim transaction.
4. **Choose your exit.** Unstake into uWatt, then redeem through the desk or use an available market.

The [uWatt guide](/for-depositors/uwatt.md) covers buying, holding, and redeeming. [Staking with c-uWatt](/for-depositors/staking.md) explains rewards, the exchange rate, and unstaking.

## Access and onboarding

Primary-desk access requires identity verification. Ordinary token transfers do not require prior desk admission, subject to pauses and blocklists. All participation remains subject to applicable sanctions, jurisdiction restrictions, and token terms.

Keep your wallet keys secure and check the network and [token address](/resources/documents-and-contracts.md) before transacting. A token bought elsewhere does not automatically give its holder access to Suno's primary desk. See [Eligibility and compliance](/legal/eligibility-and-onboarding.md) for the requirements.

## What you own

Ensuro Re Ltd. issues the tokens for the Suno Reserve segregated account. Suno Investments S.A. directs the protocol. Tokens confer contractual economic rights—not company equity or ownership of a plant.

uWatt claims are limited to the Reserve assets attributable to the segregated account and rank behind its unsubordinated creditors, subject to the exceptions in the terms. There is no deposit insurance. Read the [legal overview](/legal/introduction.md) alongside [Risks and protections](/overview/risk-management.md).

If you want to finance a new plant instead, [How value moves](/overview/how-value-moves.md) explains the pWatt route and its construction-stage exposure.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.suno.finance/for-depositors/participate.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
